Second season brought success for the Guys and Gal at Loch'm In Waterfowl Productions. We started on Saturday with little success and then on Sunday the wheels turned and proved to be the day. It started in the early morning with several gobblers lurking around us, at 7:45 with several series of calls from my brother (knobbers) a strutter came into view at 35 yards and his hunter (Sonia) was getting her first chance ever at this beautiful bird, he came in three more yards and would pop in and out of strut several times, at this point he seemed like he was getting antsy so I hear over the wireless mic from Ross "Sonia Shoot Him", even my heart was pumping and I was only running the camera. After the third "shoot him, the took a dirt nap and let me tell you, you would have thought Garth Brooks just stepped on stage, it was three grown men and one women jumping around the woods, gving high fives and hoopin and hollerin. Needless to say it was a hunt we will never forget. Congrats to Sonia and Jon.
After the exciting early morning hunt with Jon and Sonia, it was now up to the Knobloch brothers to score on a bird. Ross (knobbers) would be the man behind the gun this time and I (knobby) would be following with the camera. Scouting a few places with binoculars proved to show no activity, so we made the decision to go back to the trusted honey hole where bird one was shot, this time we had planned to set up on the east side of this huge pasture. We pulled into the lane at 11:10, Ross loaded up his gun and got mic'd up, and we were on our way, walking 150 yards I see Ross crouch down so I followed suit, he looks at me and gives me the old signal that he has spotted a lonesome tom strutting. We both hit the deck and crawled forward just a few yards and the camera began to roll and the calling started, the bird worked into 28 yards and in 7 mins of hunting the bird was hammered by a load of 3 1/2 inch hevishot. Two birds down in one day, great times with friends and lots of photos and footage!!
