What's the purpose or use of the 22 MAG ??

Hi guys, I traded my PARA-ORDNANCE P14 45acp stainless-steel slide with WILSON night-sights for 3,150 rounds of CCI 30gr. HOLLOW-POINT 22 MAG ammo + 400 rounds of CCI #11 SHOT-SHELL 22 MAG, I was going to by a 45 barrel for that slide, but the 3,550 rounds of ammo, change that idea. I went to the gun-shop and bought a MARLIN 783 12 shot, tube-fed, PLEASE let me know what good is a 22 MAG for ????

Coyotes, Crows, Bobcats, Rabbits, about anything within 150yds the 22mag will work wonders on! Larger game will require head shots, but a great round when used within it limits.

+1 for that. It is just a really good varmit and small game weapon. It will take down larger though with a good shot.

THANK YOU !!! I was thinking about target shooting ?? I have 3 scopes I can use on this 22 MAG. I have two PENTAX a 4X & 6X and a BUSHNELL 3-9X40 !!! I was thinking of putting the PENTAX 6X on this rifle ???

A 22 mag is a good gun to target shoot with, but not a cheap round to shoot, hence the fact you cannot reload rimfires. A 22 mag is a very accurate caliber and the lack of recoil will make target shooting that much more enjoyble. As for the optics, I am a firm believer in if you can't see it you can't hit it.....that being said the 3x9 would be a great scope to top your rifle off. The 22 mag I have has a fixed 6x on it, but shooting up close or at something trying to flee will be harder with a higher power thats why if I were you the 3x9 would be ideal you will have the best of both worlds. Pentex and Bushnell both make great optics.

I have never gone hunting, I only got the 22 MAG, because all the ammo I got for the slide !!! THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE !!

Thats alot of ammo, I hope it shoots good in your gun.
I use mine with a 3x9 for squirrels. Maybe a little overkill, but they never run away. (and thats how I like it).

I used my fathers Marlin 22 mag to kill gophers,....

I'd sit on top of my Aunts barn(on horse farm),...and wait for those little bastards to pop up out of their holes.....and WHAM....another one bites the dust.

I bought some 1 inch rings, and I should be putting on the 3-9X32 BUSHNELL scope, I'm going shooting on 12/18 with my friends, will post that afternoon, and let you know If it's an accurate rifle ??? THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ADVICE !!
