AK-47

I'm looking to get a AK-47 before Osama bans them, and I can still afford one. I don't have much more than 5-600 to spend. What variant would you recomend for me? I definetly want it in 7.62x39 caliber, since I have another gun that shoots that ammo.

i would look into an AR. for $200 more you can get a gun you would be much more happy with. the ak is crude and innacurate. some manufactures have AR's chambered in 7.62 also.

I was looking into that, but I don't know anybody with a FFL. I only found one dealer on there that was in CO, they're the ones I bought my SKS from a couple weeks ago at another gun show

well maybe someone on there will be in Colorado selling one and you could just go pick it up. Aren't there any gun shops around up there. They usually have an FFL and will do transfers. And the AK may be simple and crude, but it always works! Even if you NEVER cleaned it, it would still fire. I think you could pour a pound of dirt in it and it would fire still...

I'm a . Your right about the AK's being VERY reliable, that's what I want in a defense gun. There are a couple gun shops around here, I just haven't had time to take a look at what they have.

A Romanian WASR is probably your best bet. Or you could pick up a Saiga in that range probly. Might have to convert it to a pistol grip though.
