Alaska 'boo

New to org. and powerstrokes. But I found something Im not new At! hunting! That big bucks thread got me all hot and bothered so I thought Id share my last hunt.

Story goes we were sheep hunting. Put the stalk on several herds of sheep, but none legal. They have to be full curl. We lucked onto these three bull caribou up high and having a tier two subsitence permit took the big daddy. We were planning and hunting caribou the following weekend and were packed a little heavy and a little far away for taking of such a large animal. This was a purely man-powered hunt, no atvs. 12 miles. boned he weighed about 196 between two of us plus other gear. i dropped him at about 120 with a shot to the noggin. he proceeded to roll down the hill and bust up his gut sack (ugh). Since its subsitence we were required to remove and destroy the antlers, destroy the skull, destroy the hide, and technically(Ifound this out afterword though) we were supposed to pack the meat out still on the bones; but I did not know about that fine print. Thanks for looking!

Nice!! No sheep though, huh? Where were you hunting at? My sheep season got screwed this year by work, as did my moose hunting, I got a little in, but trying to get a moose on weekend hunts is ROUGH! No luck, I'm still banking on a Nov. permit moose hunt though, I WILL be eating moose this winter.

BTW: Good to see yet another one from the "last frontier" (esp. Anchorage)

What do you drive, where do you hang out? Maybe I'll see you around town, once I get back...........

We were in 13A, Past all the ATV trails way out there. Basically Northwest of Sheep mountain and southwest of Eureka. Moose in a weekend is really not ideal I agree. Its just soooo much to deal with.
Anyway. I'm usually at Merrill field. I'm studying Aviation Tech through UAA. Im currently jobless..(this is the last weekend to get sheep through regular harvest ticket so Im working on a job NEXT week lol)
