Couple of bucks

Heres a couple of bucks my hunters got today. The wider one was shot in the front leg and we had to get the dogs after him.

NICE!! Thank for sharing Cody!
You mention that leg shot, I made a bad shot on a buck out in San Saba MANY years ago and hit him in the leg - probably the worst shot I've ever made in my life and I say that because I'd rather miss than make a bad shot. Anyway I tracked him for about three miles and took multiple shots when I'd jump him but couldn't connect. I finally jumped him and with the last round I had (heck I only carry 5 rounds on me because who the hell shoots that many times at a deer), three miles away from my truck I hit him with an 80 yard dead run away from me right on the top of his back at the base of his neck and dropped him. I've never wounded a deer since. It's times like that where you realize shot placement, the right shot and when NOT to shoot is paramount to hunting.

Keep the pictures coming Cody!

We would have never found that deer without he dog. All we had was where he went into the brush 15 yards from where he was hit. There were also 16 other deer there with him that all went the same direction. We never found a drop of blood, bone, hair, anything. Only reason I knew he was shot was the spot of blood I saw on the buck running off after he shot it. The dog trailed him up and jumped him about 400 yards from us and ran him about a half mile before he finally bayed.

That's great y'all got him - he sure is a beautiful buck. Yeah dogs come in real handy for times like that. I hear there are guys out there who have dogs and do just that for a living - tracking down deer.

Our buck was the 3rd one that dog tracked that day. He was draggin' pretty bad and still ran and bayed that buck for 30+ minutes before we could get to him.

LOL! Those dogs live for that! I had a lab who would kill himself if we didn't settle him down sometimes he would get so excited - he just didn't know to quit and take a rest.
