that would be windburnt and sunburnt....fresh snow up high sunday and monday (it had melted off by the time i shot that buck) reflecting the sun along with a pretty good 15-45MPH wind constantly got me a little red

You shot him in the back of the head and it didnt do anything to the face of the animal?!? Your ballistics must be dead on!! Bullet entered, deposited energy and stayed right there. COOL!!!! Big ole neck on that dude!! Take that neck roast, clean it, boilit in HUGE pot for 4-6 hours. Meat will be stringy and seperated from bone, etc. Remove bones. Throw in 3 cans of every veggie you can find.(your homegrowns will be better!) with 4-5 onions also. Add stewed tomatoes until its like you want it for soup. Boil another hour and call everyone you can think of!! Baddest pot of soup (imo) you can make and it will feed an army!!! Nice buck!!!

marc i've been stuck with those basket rack bucks for years. my last one weighed in at a little over 200 lbs undressed and his rack was that size if not a little smaller. it's all in the diet. i'll tell ya this, and i won't bore you guys with the story that i'm too drunk to remember right now anyway. i'm proud of getting the opportunity to take the animal, and i got fatter by eating it, but the struggle i had to go thru to drag it out 200 yards by myself over hills taller than god and brush piles thicker than snoop dog's afro really left me a little disappointed in the set of horns i had to show for it.
i feel your pain, brother.

Sea.....you notice the way im holding him you cant see the right side of the back of his head....lol...thats for a reason......i didnt have much to shoot at when i shot and i hit him and blew the very right back side of his skull out.....so i held him in the pics so it wasnt visable......lol

Skeeter....lol....thanks for the counceling, but thats the smallest whitetail ive ever killed with a rifle...the only one ive killed smaller than that i killed with a bow. Up untill then, the smallest whitetail i killed was a 5x5 that had a 16 inch spread and 4 inch eyegauards with 7 inch G2's....the largest was 22 inches inside and was an absolutely massive buck.....BUT now with only a week back home to fill tags i cant be so pickey.....

That buck i shot this year wieghed about 220 DRESSED!! gutted out he was well over 200 lbs (give or take, im not sure how well my grandpa's scale is for accuracy....it was 223 i think to be exace...give or take ten pounds knowing his equipment)

And clay...thats a great buck with a pistol!!!
