not that im a hunter but i hear alot of people talk about hunting, cant say ive ever heard it refered to like that either

thats because eastern and western count are VERY strictly used in their respectiv areas.....we NEVER reffer to an animals tine count by the total of both sides....

For example...our four point in texas is an eight point....

BUT...an 11 point in texas could be the equivilant of a 5x6, 4x7, 3x8, etc in westyern count....so our system tends to be little more specific....

NO MARC THAT IS JUST A CALI. THING! YOU HAVE TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT YA KNOW? JUST KIDDING! HEY SO WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU SHOOT A LARGE NON TYPICAL? LIKE A 15 (ONE SIDE) BY 23 (ON THE OTHER SIDE)? US EASTERNS WOULD CALL THAT A 37 POINT BUCK! OH I FORGOT YOU GUYS ONLY GROW TYPICALS OUT THERE!

its not just a cali thing...well...actually they dont grow big bucks in cali so that wouldnt matter

in montana a 15 by 23 non typical whitetail buck would be called a 15 by 23...thus explaining each antlers tine count instead of a 37 point which could be endless combinations....

Its just an anal thing up north....here in Oklahoma, we don't care how many are on each side anyway. And I never seen an eight point that had 3 on one side and 5 on the other! An 8 point is understood to be 4x4....
