Scope suggestions.

Okay all you gun nuts... Pretty soon it will be time to order that Weatherby 340... Just trying to decide on what scope to top it with (and trying to keep the price under the cost of the rifle )...

Big magnums kick the heck out of a scope so it needs to be rugged for sure....

Suggestions anyone ???

Ken....

I highly doubt you would have any problem with a luepold. They are sold built inside and have good strong solid mounts.
Thats they cheapest scope I would put on a rifle like that.
There are others that will do as well but that depends on if you want to spend as much on a scope as you spent on the gun.
Talk to Luepod and they will tell you, if your riffle kicks hard enough to break or otherwise damage the internal lens mounts, they will fix it free. I have friends shooting large cal. magnums and no issues with there lueplds.
I know a guy who dropped his gun on the scope and busted it, sent it back - very obvious user abuse - and they sent him a new one, no questions asked.

I have shot Leupold my whole hunting life, drug them through all matter of torturous terrain and conditions, even fell in an ice cold creek (hurt). Never had any type of problem with them. Trusty glass, not really all that expensive. My .02.

I see the Swaro's for under a grand so that might come into play... Eye relief is only 3.5 inches as compared to the 4 you get from most of the Leupold's... Granted the beast will have a muzzle brake but I'm not into "Weatherby brow" .... The Zeiss scopes seem to fit the bill as well with good eye relief so it's going to be a heck of a decision...

the most of the swaro's scopes have 4 inch relief. i think this one is that way because of the power, and obj lens.

this is the scope i have on my 257. weatherby

http://www.opticsplanet.net/swarovsk...vski-rail.html

I have has alot of ziess, lupold, red field, But i feel this is the best scope. one of these scopes and lupold mounts and rings. you will be set for the rest of your natural born life.

Here is another great scope for the money. I use this scope on my 220. swift and also my 700BDL 300 ultra.

Leupold. Buy it only once. WIll do whatever youwant it to, Including sitting all night with a half full moon on up to a full moon! Get the VXIII or equivalant. Nothing against the VXII but there is a difference at dusk and dawn, Hence the huge difference in price! Spend 500$ and you can see way beynd lega shooting time. Spend 1500 bucks and still have to quit hunting at the same time Good luck on your decision.
