Hmmm... Let me think on that. One of the most comfortable and easily accessible ways to carry is in a fanny pack. However, it looks and to others who carry and to law enforcement it screams "I have a gun!:

I guess I would start off by asking what weather conditions are you in and what sort of clothing do you wear on a daily basis?

If your gun is light enough, pocket carry is very efficient. If you are always wearing a jacket or something of the sort a Jackazz(ss) rig (think Miami Vice) might be for you.

If you go to Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters and head to the Online catalog you will be able to search by gun type and then it show you all carry options for that piece.

Something else to consider is the company 5.11 5.11 Tactical Series They make lots of things for LE and the military. They make jackets, vests, pants, and shirts with concealed carry pockets. You might find something there you like too.

The best advise I can give you is that there will never be just one holster that will fit all your needs. So you will have to adapt to what you are wearing that day. Also, head to a local gun show or gun shop and see what the dealers have in the way of holsters. Try them on, see what you like and just go from there.

ill have to do that. thankx for the links man.

in the summer I wear jeans or bibs with a T-shirt in the winter I have sweatshirts and heavy coat on. in the cold seaso a coat pocket would probly work jus fine. in the summer i can start wearing my check pack for my radio and keep something in the pocket. now its time to start looking for a small revolver or something.

If it were me Mica, I would pack either a .357 mag or .44 mag with a short barrel. If you have the space and can pack the weight, I would consider the .44. That's just me. I know them cougars can get might nasty.

I thought about the Taurus .45/410 revolver. loaded: empty cylinder, buckshot, 45, buckshot, 45, buckshot

only problem with any of those guns is they would be a little bulkey to cary around at work all day.

Working for the USFS for a couple summers, I was privvy to the details of 2 separate mountain lion attacks on our forest. In neither case would your M4 strapped to your chest have done anything for you except give you a cool shaped bruise.

Mountain lions tend to attack from above and behind. The only time I've seen one up close in the wild I about sh*t my pants because she TOTALLY had the drop on me. I had walked right under her on a trail. I dropped my pack, and pulled out my saw to take down a leaner, and when I scoped out the tree tops for potential hazards, I saw her. She looked at me, (and when a mountain lion looks at you, believe me, you FEEL it,) yawned, jumped down and walked away.

I was white as a ghost and sitting on the side of the trail when the rest of my crew caught up with me.

You are quite correct on the stalk and attack of such cats.

A handgun might help you out in a dire emergency, but that M4 would be pretty useless once you were attacked. Useless as a gun, but maybe you could use it to beat the cat.
