Naw, I'm not shooting it out. I'll be investing in large diameter PVC pipe and endcaps. Might need another shovel, too.

Absolutely! They will have to kill me first.

What I don't understand is how dumb some of these anti-gun nuts are. I heard one on tv say "where there are more guns there is more violence." If that is so, then why does L.A., New York, and D.C. have some of the highest rates of violent crime committed with a firearms They have only banned hand guns for the past three decades like D.C.

I think it is a shame that just because the minority do not understand firearms (and therefore generally fear them) that they feel it is OK to infringe upon my right to own them. Just because some people never take the time to familiarize themselves with guns and learn to handle them responsibly and properly, should not mean that the millions of responsible law abiding citizens should have to surrender theirs.

All these new gun control laws do is take firearms away from the people who follow the law to begin with. Do law makers honestly think that a criminal who wouldn't follow the old rules would seriously take time to legally buy a firearm and register it after the new laws are passed? A criminal is a criminal and they will get whatever they want no matter what the law says.

At least give the honest citizens a chance to defend themselves.

I agree 1000% with this. I have my CCW permit and have paperwork on all of my guns. I do carry my pistol with me in the truck everywhere I go. I have even started calling the states I will be travelling in or through to see if I may carry my gun for personal protection while travelling. Criminals do not give a dammn about any of the laws and these close minded anti-firearms idiots are gonna make it worse for the law abiding citizen to protect himself/herself and his/her family against the criminal. I have a feeling that the crime rate involving guns will rise if they take away our right to own a gun.

Glad to see that I am not the only one that thinks this way.

Hopefully the accounts I've seen of the hearing are correct and the majority comes down on the peoples side of this.

An armed man is a citizen, an unarmed man is a subject.

I live in a DC suburb and whole heartedly believe that a gun ban in DC is a good idea. It allows the city to defend itself. It allows the community of DC to defend itself from those few who believe that they can willy nilly make the decision to defend themselves for whatever reason they deem fit.
DC is a safer happier place without guns.

The thing is, DC has already had a ban on handguns for the past 32 years, has that helped with the violent gun crimes? No. Banning all guns would just be rediculous IMO especially when the bulk of the gun crimes are committed with handguns, criminals do not care what laws are on the books.

Who is safer and happier in DC? The criminals? Did I miss something or doesn't DC have one of the highest violent crime rates? If I lived there I'd be packing while going to the mailbox!!

The Constitution was written to limit the power of the government, not the people. Ask anyone how they would feel about removing free speech from Washington DC or any of the other rights granted to them. There have been more Americans killed in DC than in Iraq or Afghanistan since the war started, when will we abandon DC? If you don't want to own a gun don't buy one.
