Big Bass

not really a huntin story but i figured this was the most appropriate place.
i went to the lake the other day with my son, we stopped by the spill way so i could show it to him. there was a man fishing and about 20ft down there a rope tied to the rail which went into the water bout 60ft long, there was a BIG fish on the end of it, i asked the guy if it was his he said it was i asked him what it was he said a bass. i was like dang how big is it? he said so nonscolontly " oh 15-20 lbs" he said pull it up and see what you think. i pulled it up and it was the biggest largemouth bass i have ever seen in my life, im not a big bass fisherman(dont have the patients)but this was a monster it WAS atleast 15lbs. i looked up the lake records later and he would have smashed it and real close to the state record. he probably just went home and ate it along with his catfish, i told a bunch of guys at work and they said " awe man you should have bought it from him" i wish i would have taken a picture of it it was as long or longer than my arm and at least 6 1/2" wide.

MAN! That's a nice fish! You always have to wonder how many people never think about that. Heck a state record fish is worth some $$$. Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mt. buy mounts like that all the time.

You prolly could have made some money off that fish.

I have been Bass fishing for 15 years now and never even came close to a fish that size. Like Alan said, I bet alot of guys catch these huge fish and don't even know what they have.

I have a 4.8 lb Largemouth and a 3 lb Smallie on the wall. Caught a few of each in that range, I'd prolly fall in the lake if I hooked onto a 15 lb Bucketmouth!

That is an enormous Largemouth for anywhere in Montana, given the fact that Largemouth are warm water fish and a Bass that big would have to be pretty dang old.
