Anyone hunt with muzzleloader

Just wonderin if anyone hunts with a muzzleloader. I just bought my first muzzleloader and plan to do a bull elk and cow elk hunt with it this next season. How many hunt with muzzleloader and what loads have you had luck with. I can't decide if I should go with sabots or conicals in my in-line.

Ive been hunting for the past 4 years with a smokepole. I shoot a CVA Optima Elite (interchangeable barrel system) stainless steel fluted barrel and black synthetic stock with webbing. I also have a 3x9 scope on it.

I shoot hornady SST 250 grain sabots with two 50 grain preformed triple 7 pellets.

This is my 2011 buck with it. Scored 140 typical. Not a very good pic of deer but only pic I had of the gun.

Thats a good buck. I like the looks of that cva and have heard good things bout the gun but I figured mine will be good for a first. I'm messin with a 110gr of pyrodex rs with a 385gr hornady great plains conical. Been told thats a good combo for elk so i'll give it a shoot. If I don't like the conical I think i'll go with the powerbelt since its still a full .50 cal bullet.

I really enjoy whitetail hunting with my muzzleloader, Knight Vision. I've been using 100gr of triple seven and 250 hornady bullets, drops em on the spot. I like the 1 shot 1 kill with a mussleloader vs shotgun hunting around here, 1 deer shot 5 times and track it a mile, (not me)

Ya I like the hard hit a muzzleloader puts out.
@mmhunter I think the load should do real good too. I'm gonna try and make it out tomorrow to shoot it if weather permits. Happy huntin to you too.

Ive got a walmart special traditions inline 50cal. It shoots straight and hits hard. My biggest problem is keeping my scope zero. The kick of the gun seems to knock the scope off zero. I know that its my fault for leaving the ElcheapO' scope on it. I 100 grain pellets with a 50cal sabot.

Ive "tried out" a few different ML over the years and have found that what shoots well through one is terribly off through others. I'm actually really impressed with the TC Impact($230 to my door), blackhorn 209 powder(90 grains) with T-ez sabots. If it shoots well stay with it.
