Got a Judge

Howdy all,
Finally broke down and bought a Taurus Judge, I got the blue 5 shot, 3" barrel. Took it out to the land and fired off some shots. Pretty happy with it.
Here are some observations about the gun: The gun is big, much bigger than the pictures I had seen made it look. It is heavy, almost 2 pounds if I recall from the owners manual. I have been shooting a Beretta 96FS .40 and the Judge outweighs it. I love the rubber grips on the Taurus, optical site is nice, recoil / kick isn't too bad either. I was shooting .410 shotgun shells and some .45 long colt ammo. The trigger is heavy and I will have to get that worked on at some point in time. All in all, I am happy with it.
Just passing some info along to anyone else considering the purchase of one of these handguns.
Craig

It is a .45 / .410. the cylinder is 3" long to accommodate a .410 shotgun shell.

Dang I missed this thread! Congrats Craig! Did you get the 3" mag? I've been waiting on that model - it's out but you can't find the dang things anywhere.

Good for you Craig. No, it isn't a small gun. Yes, you should be happy with it. Yes, I am jealous .
(I'm still waiting on the SS version).

Hey Alan,
It is the Taurus M410. It was 380.00 at B&S guns here in Dallas. I got the last blue one, but they had two stainless steels left for 419.00.

And here is a dumb conversation I had with an employee at Bass Pro Shops. I assume he was the manager as he was older and wore a different color shirt from the rest of the employees.

Me: Do y'all carry the Taurus Judge?
Bass Pro Employee: Well you know I have had about 75 calls for that gun but right now we aren't planning on carrying it. Besides I have plenty of pistols that can shoot thru an engine block right there on the bottom shelf.

Me (thinking "do you even know anything about this gun? :bonk: ) reply with: Yeah, well that's not what my intended use of the gun, I really want it for snakes and personal protection.
Bass Pro Shop employee: Well I could special order it for you.

Me (just for grins asks ): How much would it run me if you special order it?
Bass Pro Shop employee sees a customer who has just walked up to my left: Can I help you sir?

I was left with the impression that our conversation was over and walked off to the archery section.

Now if a store had 75 calls about a particular item wouldn't someone investigate the item and see about carrying it? I mean 75 calls for one particular gun and you have no plans to carry it?
Anyways, I will just stay an Academy Sports shopper.

Craig

Cool!! I held that gun for the first time the other day at my wifes store, and liked it. Thought about gettin it, and POOF! It was bought before I got off work 3 hours later!! She has them on back order now. Go Figure!! And with the recent writ up in The National Rifleman magazine, they will be even harder to get because of a much higher demand. Glad ya got one!

Congrats Craig. Hope you like it.

I've wanted one since Alan posted the links to the video... just don't know when I'll be able to afford one.

Sounds like a nice piece, like the old civil war La mas I think it was called, something like 9 60cal balls in the cylinder, and a shot gun shell under slung in a separate barrel.

Gord.
