I've gotten two out of the three Toms we are allowed in the spring.
I went yesterday for my third, and some old man was out around the spot where I like to set up, sitting in the open with an "old school" style duck cammo jacket on, old school BDU pants and no decoys.....I saw him take about a 75 yard shot with some 20 year old "high base" 2 3/4" reload # 4's
(I met up with him on his way out and he proudly displayed the shells to me)

I'm shooting 3 1/2" Heavishot out of a "dead coyote" choke tube, and I don't think I would have taken that long of a shot. Anyway he chased away every Tom in 17 counties it seems like. After that I couldn't get an answer to my crow call or anything. I'll try next Tuesday for my last bird.

The "slaughter fest" A group of four of us went out the Tuesday after opening day. Two of us shot, the group just hung around so the other two shot also

I'm done for the season Today was overcast and foggy and I thought the day would be a wash. I waited out the weather and this ol boy came rolling up around 11:30. Funny thing is I was watching a group of 4 big jakes, and just as I decided to shoot one of them I looked to my left and the tom was just standing there at 40 yards eyeing my decoy. Took him down with a 3 1/2" heavishot out of a "dead coyote" choke tube. This is the first Tom that didn't beat himself into a mess while doing the "death rattle" so I'm going to mount the fan and 9" beard.
