To you whitetail chasers-

My grandfather and i have been talking about allowing a few others than just family to come in bow season/shotgun season to do some deer huntin'. We own over 800 farm acres in ohio and its all hunt-able. Last year we had a an 18 pointer and 2 17 pointers taken off 2 of the farms, the 18pt i believe had a 32" spread up top and a down tine on each side. (I never get lucky and only hunt racks in bow season biggest ive ever gotten was a 16pt but my older brother has taken 3 16pts and the 18pt). This years limits will be 1 buck 2 does in our area i believe. Ill keep you guys posted with details if any of you are interested and we could possibly provide housing. The only restriction we have laid so far is we are limiting it to the 100 acre base farm which has about 12 acres of woods and 10 acres of pines. This is primarily due to safety reasons (no one really hunts it however it has 2 perma stands and 2 feeders out with about 4 acres of bio along the woods which the deer CLEAN out every year).

The reason we are considering offering this if anyone is curious is our crop damage permits were limited to 45 this year, and THEY have to be shoot-n-lay. Meaning the only thing we can do is slap the big sticker on the deer after we shoot and it and leave it to rot there. This number is down from the original 80 permits. Eastern farmers know deer lay a HUGE hurtin and can even drop yield %'s buy 10-15% pending on location and crops. So we figure if we bring 10-15 more hunters thats an easy 45 more deer gone per year, and trust me you can sit in your truck leave it running and still have all 3 tags used by 10 am during shot gun season.

If we decide to go through with it this year, ill post details and see what kind of interest there is. No promises as of yet though, some of the family despises letting others hunt on the land.

Also anyone in the ohio area wants to kill all the ground hogs they want shoot me a PM, the local sportsmans club killed over 300 in one day and it didnt even put a dent in them.

Big Country. Let's go down there for this. I will be back around 7 december. It's been so long since I have done any deer hunting in ohio that I cannot remember when the season sends. Is it still nov 1st to dec 1st for bow and dec 1st to jan 1st for shotty????? I have got a few very close partners in columbus that could pitch in on thinning the herd of whitetail. I am in as long as I get back in time. Keep me posted. PM sent deere.

Were not 100% on the deer hunting yet, i can honestly say it will go either way. The majority of the family only comes to the farm(s) to hunt and that is all they care about. Sadly this is not entirely my decision nor anyones really well just see how it goes as we come a little closer to bow season. Ill also try and get some video of the farm to give you guys an idea, about 4pm every night you can count 30-40 coming out of these woods/pines to tear up the clover beans and corn. And you can bet im riding on the hood of a tractor with my sks/7mm and a handful of stickers pickin off those does!

As for season im not really sure, shot gun usually starts monday after thanksgiving through 7 days and an extra day or two for 100 acres+ and another day for public property. Muzzleloader is usually a 3-5 days in december and bow is late/early sept till february now. Not 100% let me pick up an 07 book and ill post the info up on ohio season/limits.

You can kill em' with anything you want on crop permits (thats legal to own ofc). Just not during seasons. Weve already used 37 stickers this year and only started 2 months ago. We used to be allowed to cut the backstraps and loins out. Cant touch them at all now.
