Cool Got my first deer......EVER!

Well, at the title states. I went hunting with my uncle the other Saturday for the first time in Montgomery Co. Around 2:30pm I shot my very first deer. It wa sa doe at about 153lbs. So excited at this point. Was using a Remington 870 12 ga pump with slugs. Going out again on Jan 8th and hoping for one with a set of horns........ My buddy gave me his old bow (Hoyt) but it needs a little work done to it. He said if I'm intereted in real hunting, try bow next year. I think that's just jealously talking (he hasn't gotten one yet this season)

Like Dad told me, you can cook those horns all you want, you still can't eat 'em

We're heading out again tomorrow since tomorrow is the last of firearms season. Hoping the fresh snow on the ground will get the deer moving in the morning to eat.

Congrats to You!!

Awesome to hear about your first success. I am sure the memory will be there forever. If you get a chance, update us and let us know how your most recent hunt on 1/8 went.

I was lucky enough to get an invite to my friend's private lease farm on the Eastern shore on 1/8. It was snowing and about 25 degrees. My muzzle loader was covered in ice and the scope filled with snow. I still managed to get a REALLY big doe at about 7 AM. My guess is she dressed well over 120 lbs, must have been 160+ lbs on the hoof.

It was a great deer season for me as I got multiple deer this year. I must have made up for last year when I didn't get any.

Hunting Update

I figured I would add a couple of photos so you could see how cold it was as well as the size of the doe I got. Anyone else got pics of any deer or other game they got this year?
