Not Offical Yet But...

Since the Arizona Game and Fish Department doesn't debit your credit card for the tag fees until you've been drawn, it seems that we've been drawn for elk this year ....

A buddy of mine mentioned the other day that a couple of his friends had reviewed their bank accounts and noticed that the AZGFD had debited their accounts... His and a couple other buddies had not been so I checked mine and sure enough there was a debit for the exact amount of two tags by the ASGFD (that would be one apiece for me and my hunting partner).... Wooo Hoooo....

The office notification doesn't happen till the 16th of April but the un-official has already happened for those of us who use their debit cards for the online process....

Now the serious waiting and planning can be underway.... Guess we'll see how my 5th wheel does with forest roads.... Now is as good as anytime to get comfortable with my 338-378 and bipod combo ... Want to make sure that first shot is the decider.....

That is so much fun. My brothers & i just drew elk & deer tags for Wyoming out of Cody 8 hours in on horse back borders Yellowstone. Been in Colorado last 2 years filled all our tags both times.Last year we met to guys at a hotel in grand junction Colorado that had two elk on top of there escalade that were out of Arizona were the two largest bulls no BS the heads started at the front of the windshield and exceeded 6 inch past the back and were as wide as the SUV.3 to 4 inch at base round. Here one friend of a Friend killed Oregon Idaho border

Don't have the tags in hand yet so I'm not sure which unit yet... We put in for unit 9 primary and unit 10 secondary... Both are Grand Canyon South Rim... Unit 9 is our usual.... We're after cow elk by the way....

75th and Bethany... What, about 10 miles South of you....

And oh yeah, AZ is the place for trophy elk... Look around in Boone and Crocket and you'll find many of the top trophies were taken in AZ...

One problem with pics when it comes to hunting... Either we forget the camera or we get skunked... I'm torn whether to bring it for that reason... The first time I forgot it ( I didn't have a tag that time ) and my hunting partner scored... The next time we both had tags and cameras... We saw 5 elk in 10 days with two of those being bulls when we had cow tags... We'll see how it goes... I should at least bring the camera and leave it in the truck, that way I shouldn't jinks anything....

I think out of state tags are only like $550 or something like that... Of course you're too late for the draw but they might have some "first come" leftovers... Then all you need is the license which is no big deal... I think for out of state it's about a hundred bucks...

Course then it would be nice to have some idea of where the unit is and what to expect....

Thankfully I've lived here long enough to know the area we'll be hunting....

Now the WAITING GAME
