URGENT ALERT – ILLINOIS ONE STEP CLOSER TO GUN BAN Freedom-loving Illinois citizens were dealt a serious blow today when Senate Bill 16 – the Daley plan to ban and confiscate your semiautomatic rifles and shotguns – passed out of the Senate Public Health Committee. The bill now goes to the full Senate for what promises to be a furious floor fight. YOUR IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED IN THE BATTLE TO SAVE YOUR GUNS – PLEASE DO EACH OF THE FOLLOWING THINGS: 1. Call Senate President Emil Jones’ office at (217) 782-2728 and tell the person that answers that you are a law-abiding gun owner and you do not appreciate Senator Jones treating you like a criminal. (Jones is the original sponsor of SB16). 2. Call your State Senator and POLITELY tell him or her that you oppose SB16 and you would like them to vote against SB16 when it reaches the senate floor. If you do not know who your senator is, then call (217) 782-2000 and ask the switchboard to connect you with your senator. Or go on the Internet to: Illinois General Assembly Home Page and use the “Legislator Lookup” feature in the lower right hand corner to identify your senator and get their phone number. 3. Call State Senator Antonio Munoz, the sponsor of SB16’s most recent amendment, at: (217) 782-9415 and tell the person who answers that you are a law-abiding gun owner and that you do not appreciate Senator Munoz treating you like a criminal. Then call Munoz’s district office at (773) 869-9050 and tell the person there the same thing. 4. In a tactic as bad as the Soviet Union, Committee Chairman Susan Garrett denied gun owners the opportunity to testify against SB16 in senate hearings on the bill today. In effect, YOUR VOICE WAS SILENCED by Sen. Garrett. Of course, Daley’s Gun Grabbers were allowed to testify. So, it is important that you call Sen. Garrett’s office at (217) 782-3650, and remind the person who answers the phone that this is still the United States of America and that you are angry that Sen. Garrett denied your fellow citizens the right to be heard. Also, call Garrett’s district office at (847) 433-2002 and tell the person there the same thing. 5. Pass this alert along to all your gun owning friends. Tell them to make the same phone calls. 6. Post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards to which you belong. 7. If you are not a member of the ISRA, or you have gun owning friends who are not members of the ISRA, then go to Illinois State Rifle Association and join today. THIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE YOUR GUNS |

Who has rights? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We, as voters need to know what our congressional candidates believe in before we elect them to represent us. As legislation (especially in the congress now) continues to try and take away our freedom to bear arms, I grow stronger in my belief of the second ammendment. Even the United Nations Council is trying to disarm the USA citizens. I say "stand for what you believe in". If you are not familiar with the NRA/ILA, I urge each one of you to learn about what they stand for, and support the cause. It is in our best interest for us and our posterity. If we don't stand for this cause NOW, our immediate and future generations surely will become defenseless (firearms wise - legally). Only criminals will own guns. Our pleasures in the shooting and hunting sports will vanish. ALL law-abiding American citizens have the right to protect themselves, their families and property! I believe strong enough in the right to bear arms, that in my lifetime, if they come to take my guns, it will require that they show up with sufficient force, because Surrender is NOT AN OPTION. 'Extreme Resistance' shall be encountered, as long as I am still capable of pulling the trigger. This, I state because of my belief, and the protection and rights of my family and offspring. |

Here is the short version of the bill-you can click on the link above the description and to get the legalese. It's basically a state copy of the federal version of the assault weapons ban, which is stupid and pointless. It's also stupid and pointless to pass a concurrent state law that is a direct copy of a federal law. No one's coming to take your 1100 12 gauge (Does Remington still make that?), but they might have a problem with your street sweeper...pity, I've always wanted to see what one of those would do to a patch of rotten pumpkins. :uzi: Quote:

Seems very Califonia-ish. looks like they are after detachable hi-cap mag rifles, and not much else. Shotguns and bolt action rifles would be safe. It is another pointless political attempt to gain some anti-gun voter support, I wonder what happened to all of the nay-sayers re: the expiration of the federal ban ( thanks for nothing Bill Clinton ) ? Folks were cryin' about the impending chaos of everyone owning a machine gun.....just plain ignorant.
I hope they kick this bill back where it belongs...in the trash with the rest of the garbage. ..and hey badfish...the Street Sweeper is classified as a destructive device not a shotgun ![]() I love me some Texas ! I'm going to go hug my .50BMG now. |
