Trip to the Drag Strip

I know we've talked about this and people are interested. I want to set a date for us to all go to a drag strip and run our trucks. Looking through the local tracks and their schedules there isn't a whole lot of choices. I'm figuring due to work schedules and travel, most of us would prefer to do this on a Saturday or Sunday. I know for myself, Saturday is the best option, but I REALLY want to get back to drag racing so I'll go on a Sunday.

Here are the schedules for some of the local tracks:

Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA

They seem to have test and tune on Friday evenings. Most of their Saturdays seem to filled with events.

Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA

Test and tune on Friday evenings. Some Saturday events we might be able to attend.

South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel, GA
Dragstrip Schedule - South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Adel
Test and tune most Friday evenings. This I think could be our best shot. On Saturday, December 1st they have an all day test and tune event. December would give people pleanty of time to plan, and build if you want to modify before hand. Plus the cooler weather should really help us make the power and get great ETs. I've been to this track before and it is a very nice facility. Also brings in the possibility of doing a joint meet with guys from Florida.

Alabama International Dragway in Steele, AL
Track Info
Test and tune on Friday evenings and on Sunday afternoons. This track provides the most options for dates. I've been to this track a handful of times before and it is a decent facility. The price to race has gone up drastically so I hope they've made some improvements.

Let me know what you guys think. I'd like to make this an official get together, but if we don't have the support/backing, I still want to go.

I wouldn't mind making a couple of passes. Count me in for this but I would rather stay away from Steele. Couple of bad experiences. Lol

Last time I was at Steele was 2005 and the shut down area was a little scary. I don't think I would want to run a super fast car with skinny fronts there. But I saw plenty of guys there doing it.

Im planning to go to Atlanta Motor Speedway here shortly, a friend of mine lives close by and several of his friends have PSD's and they go on Fri nites, you can drive the race track (slowly), enter the show-n-shine, and drag race and supposedly its every Fri night.. Ill try to get some more info if yall are interested. He says there are alot of diesels there.

This is true! I'm from Fayetteville and we use to go ALL THE TIME! It's really fun and everybody always has a blast! I've got a customer that has been begging me to run my truck against his foxbody, but I'm afraid I'll completely grenade my transmission.
