GPDA Charter ideas

Alright guys, I want you guys to help us write a Charter for the GPDA. Post up anything you would like to see in our new Charter and it will be considered. This is not a thread to make jokes and carry on in, so be serious. Don't post if it isn't useful and/or pertaining to the Charter. We can joke around in many other places, but this is a serious matter that I would like members to voice their opinions on.

Here's what we have so far.

To be a GPDA member with voting rights-
1) You must own a Ford diesel.
2) You must live in the state of Georgia.
3) You must display the GPDA sticker on your truck.
4) You must attend at least 1 official G2G per year and 1 unofficial G2G per year.
Official G2G's will be defined as- A large gathering of members planned by the elected officials.
Unofficial G2G's will be defined as- Any gathering of 5 or more members, not necessarily planned by elected officials.
Exception's will be given to Military members who are deployed, training or otherwise unable to attend G2G's due to their work.

We still need to address elections and elected positions. Obviously we will retain the current positions of President, Vice President and Treasurer (this position name may be changed if we decide to become an official .ORG chapter). Thanks for your feedback guys/gals.

I would like yall to consider having a "pot" so that we each put a little bit of money in which will pay for the events, because a little adds up when you have the number of people we seem to have. This may not work, but its just my thoughts.

Please be more specific Brandon. I'm interested in your idea, but don't want to require any to give any certain amount. Sometimes money just isn't there, you know. I think charging dues, is out of the question, but I wouldn't mind something on a strictly volunteer basis. That would require that we look at the tax implications and what the government would require since we would technically be collecting money. Thats another reason why the position of Treasurer might have to be changed. After the Charter is written, I'm gonna let one of Missy's lawyer buddies look it over to insure we aren't doing anything we shouldn't.

I think we need something in there for our current and future military members as far as them being able to make the gtg if they are deployed or stationed somewhere else.

Excellent point, Chris and I discussed that and Military members will be given a pass on G2G's when they are deployed, training or in any way unable to attend due to their job. I just forgot to put that in. I'll add it now.

Ok so one more thing for the night. Is a charter the same thing as rules and regulations. I'm guessing it is.

We'll discuss that one. I want to say that a members spouse has every right to vote if they participate in G2G's and on the forum. I would have to say that you would have to be married though, no boyfriends or girlfriends getting voting rights.

Yes Sir, that is correct. You were doing pretty good considering you weren't sure what you were talking about.
