Just thought I'd throw this out there... Robins AFB (Air Force Base) is hosting their 2012 Air Show on April 28 & 29. You can find tons of details about it here
thing that I want everyone to know is... is that with all of the budget cuts the base has been going thru, this could be the last
Air Show for a loooooooong time. There is also a rumor
being spread around that the Blue Angels are being decommissioned after this show (even though their site says they're still active). So, if you've never seen an Air Show before, this is THE ONE
to come to. If you're interested in coming to the show , let me know and I'll try to get you all the specifics that you need to know. As always, this will be something fun for the whole family! Bring everyone, and definitely definitely DEFINITELY bring a camera!
I'm also working on getting us (the GPDA, and anyone else who'd like to join us) a "behind the scenes" tour with our local Marine unit that's stationed at Robins. They're a Huey helo unit, but they have a few Cobras too!
We probably won't be allowed to bring our cameras into their hanger because the JSTARS are right behind them, and those are classified aircraft.
Anywho, let me know! And I hope to see ya'll there!
EDIT: I'm not so sure my upper management knows what they're talking about with the Blue Angels. They may not in fact be being decommissioned. I'll find out this upcoming week and post. Either way, this is gonna be the last Air Show here at Robins for a while. And by a while, I mean for at least
4 more years...
