raising the boost?

Prolly this is a that somebody beat long ago, but it just occurred to me…

What if you injected a small amount of water into the exhaust manifolds to create steam, and therefore expansion? My theory is that it would speed up the turbo a little during part-throttle usage. Has anybody tried that? I’m thinking the extra boost would help the mileage a little. Although, I guess the additional backpressure would have a small negative effect.
