I have a 97 f250 stroke with DIY intake and straight pipe. Locally someone is selling a used SCT X3 for 200. I would rather not drop a grand during Christmas time on myself put I can't get over the performance I got when I "tested" a different tuner. I don't want to cause damage in the future but is the SCT well respected and also a tuner for my E4OD? Or should I just seek out someone that can do a custom tune? I don't do any extreme towing however I don't want to have to worry should I want to tow. I'm lost, please help.


Current Powerstroke:
2002 F250 4x4 CC Lariat
Bought 3/6/12 w/ 211k miles
Bone Stock
08 mirrors w/ heat
Straight piped
DIY 6637
Clearance lights installed

i have found that the TS performace chip is a good starter. you can always custom tune it later on down the road. sct is also a good one although id run a chip on a 7.3. i run the sct but i have a 06 6.0L. i installed the TS chip on my buddies truck and it made a hell of a diff and it was only 200. he is getting custom tunes for it later tho. best thing is, is you can switch it on the fly vs. sct where you have to reprogram it to switch tunes
