I'm Confused!
As you know, my brake controller in my truck hasn't been working, and never has since we installed it. The trailer place told us we needed to add some fuses under the hood, but we couldn't find anywhere to add fuses, and the fuse in the fuse box for trailer brakes was working. Although our meter said we wern't getting any power to the controller, although I think it is broken, because it also said we were getting no power at the plug at the hitch (for lights), and I know it is because I hooked up a trailer and the lights worked just fine.
So anyway, I go out to my truck (Note: it is POURING outside), and get in, and before starting it up, I see the light on the controller is on. So I am thinking WTF, this thing dosn't work, and now I come out here and it is draining my battery (couldn't be very long cause it wasn't working this after noon), so why would it just start randomly working, and why dosn't it turn off when I turn the truck off, or after 15 minutes when it kills everything else (radio/windows) and stuff. So right now I have that panel off, and unplugged the controller so it dosn't drain my battery overnight. I felt under there and I don't feel any wet spots, so the rain couldn't have anything to do with it. Why would it just start randomly working... I guess I can only haul big stuff if it is raining!

What brake controller are you using? are you plugged into the factory brake control harness under the dash? I just put a Prodigy in my ex and I had a factory harness that plugged in under dash. This made the install simple and all the fuses are in factory fuse box. Maybe somthing to look into?....Good luck

It is a voyager, and I plugged it into the factory plug under the dash.
The fuse in the fuse box for trailer brakes is there, and dosn't look bad. |

On mine it seemed odd to me, but the red and black wires are reversed. If I remember right my red from truck went to black of brake control and vice versa. When I first hooked it up..................directions? what directions? Wires are color coded and I'm done..............Well it never powered on. Checked diagram and it showed the wires that needed to be switched.
?? Other than that, I'm stumped too |
