Compression Ignition 101

I figured I would start a thread for everybody like me that has little or no understanding how a Turbo Diesel motor works. There is no such thing as a stupid question in here. Please don't insult people's lack of intelligence or experience.

If there is another place that has this info already posted, please post a link.

I have a couple questions to start with:

1- How does compresson ignition work? (I know there are no spark plugs. It's just cylinder compression that ignites the fuel, correct??

2- How does the HPOP fuel injection system work? Common rail? Are there other systems?

3- How does the turbo, intercooler, etc. work?

I have some fuel questions

#1 diesel, #2 diesel, b11 5-20% bio diesel all were clear

What is the difference between #1 and #2?
What do you gain or lose by running bio?
I also look foward to the answers in the original post.
