New California diesel checkpoints

oK, as I was coming back from the hardware store this morning I was flagged into a checkpoint on Foothill Blvd in Tujunga, CA by a CHP at first I thought it was a DUI checkpoint so I asked the CHP officer what is this about? with the typical CHP attitude I was told just pull foreward. Some guy approaches me with a clipboard in hand and I proceed to ask him the same question he tells me that these checkpoints are to collect data in regards to the new california diesel regulations. So, I asked do I have to be here, is there a state or local law that says I have to comply with this test and he said NO !!! So place my Dually in reverse, backed out of the checkpoint waved to the pig (with a little grin) and left.
I get home and try to find more info on what just happened but everything I find is very vague and non specific can anyone enlighten me futher as to exactly what is going on?

that's a little scary, shoulda at least waited long enough for him to tell you what it was about, although i most likely would have done the same thing, hahaha

wow its stating already... i know exactly where thats at... thats why i hate driving my truck on the highways.. CHP's are a holes around here as you know....

laws will be in place but it depends on what year you got...

08+ have to have a DPF and cat....

6.0L engines all came with cats so that has to stay on

with the 7.3L is a lil different... some came with them and some didnt like mine... but we will have to start doing emission testing starting in 2010

the state needs money... so CHP is going to be doign stupid crap like this.. just like they stopped me for tinted windows and after they had me stopped they said "well now that we have you stopped lets see what else we can get you for"

its bull crap.... they dont have anything better to do.... Their just mad cause they couldnt be real cops.. according to my LAPD friends

i applied when i was younger and made it to the point where i was going to go into the academy but thats when my daughters mom left us and i was alone with my daughter... i had noone to take her to school while i was going to be in the academy so i dropped out...

so yah i really really wish i could be in their.. i have a lot of friends and family that are LAPD.. but oh well....
