Help me decide - '00 F-250 or '06 F-350
I have a choice between 2 trucks and I’m looking for your opinions on which truck will better suit my needs.
The truck will be used for pulling a camper (me, wife & 3 children). I would like to be able to pull a trailer with a skid steer, boat, car/pickup hauler, dump trailer hauling and any other type of hauling needs. I don’t have a camper or the trailers mentioned here and I’m starting with the truck. Truck choices: 1. 2000 F-250 7.3L diesel, 324,000KM (202,000 miles), 4x4, super cab, long box, single rear wheel 2. 2006 F-350 6.0L diesel, 225,000KM (140,000 miles), 4x4, crew cab, short box, single rear wheel Which one should I pick and why? Which one is a more capable hauling rig? Please also expand on any 7.3 vs 6.0 maintenance issues. |

Both of those are good trucks. Some of the guys have had better luck with their 6.0s than others. I personally, have not had very much trouble out of mine. I will say, for towing, if they both are automatics, the 6.0 has the 5 speed auto. I like that compared to the 7.3s 4 speed auto. The 6.0 also has a little more power than the 7.3. But....In my honest opinion, I think the 7.3 is still the more reliable motor. So.......it's a tough choice.
