if i was buying one myself, i would get a 99.5-2003 7.3. they are very reliable and have plenty of power, and handle modifications very well. the most common problems with them are cam sensors failing, injectors failing, water pumps seem to last about 100-150,000 miles, and the harnesses for the injectors under the valve covers sometimes have the clip weaken and they will come partially disconnected causing a rough running condition. none of these problems are an epidemic or anything, although the cam sensor is a very common problem. i reccomend keeping one in the glove box so you dont end up stranded, and its very easy to replace. Dont take this as it is a motor with a lot of problems, cause its not, these are just the most common things i see working on them..........Marc
You recommend 99.5-03. I have been looking at this very nice
97 f-250, how do they compair.
