I am thinking of buying the firestone ride rite air bag kit with the compressor. Just wanted to know if anyone else is running the compressor kit and where you mounted the compressor? I live in MN so just mounting it to the frame is not an option as salt would eat it alive. Any ideas would be great.

toolbox maybe. You can mount an inclosure box underneath and route your intake outside of box if needed

I was thinking something like a battery box or something that won't rust.

My air comp is mounted in my toolbox. I have also seen lots mounted under the hood. In the north where its real cold the heat from the engine helps keep the comp from freexing up!

I will be using them for hauling my camper so i can't use a tool box.

Well then my next suggestion would be under the hood. Cant really think of a better place. I guess a Marine battery box with the comp inside it under the truck might work but no matter what they say its imposible to keep moistier out of there!

Yeah i hear ya. They did recommened that you don't mount it under the hood only cause the engine heat can pre-maturely damage the compressor. I like the idea cause all the wiring and everything is close. I am thinking about mounting it to the frame somewhere in a box.

All I can say is find a very good one and seal the hell out of everything

There is no real safe spot on northern trucks to keep them away from all the salt and grime. Unless i put it in the cab.
