NEED YOUR HELP

I just completed a r4100 2wd 4wd swap. Got everything put together and the truck now only has 1st and 2nd and reverse. the truck just revs and wont shift into drive or overdrive. The truck is an 02 f-250 psd 4wd. The tranny it had in it had a cracked bell housing but all the gears worked fine. Is it possible I need to have the pcm flashed so it will recognize the new tranny? Im out of ideas. Ive had this tranny in and out 2 times and I cant find anything wrong with the internals. This is really frustrating I will take any ideas on this!!!

I am in agreement with you. There has to be something hinkie going on. I would try the reflash, or maybe get an SCT and put a new program in. I bet you are miffed!!! I would be kikin and stompin and cussin if it was me.

i will have an update in a couple hours. I droped the tranny pan pulled the valve bodies out and the solenoid pack. after studying the book i noticed I had one to many of those check balls in there. I fixed the ball placement and put it back together. we will see what happens I guess.

well got it back together and no improvement. Im wondering if the solenoid pack in the tranny is bad? This is getting really agitating!!! has anyone had this problem before?!

any ideas? ive never been so frustrated in my life. I know everything in the tranny is put together right ive had it in and out of the truck 3 times now!! on top of doing the 2wd to 4wd swap! any one ever done this swap and had to get a pcm re flash in order for things to work right? I talked to my local ford stealership and the head mechanic told me he didnt think a re flash was necessary.
