6.0 cold start

Hi
Thought I'd add to the list of 6.0 cold start problems. Have taken alot of info from here, so I'd thought I'd put my problem and cure on here to add to the vast info bank that is on here. 2006 F350. 98,500 miles. With 40 or below temps would buck and shake and blow white smoke. If it was down in the 20 degree range, might take 2 or 3 times to start. Also was getting a little rattle cruising down the highway. Took it to the dealer and they diagnosed 8 bad injectors. They put the injectors in and it starts and runs good again. This is the first trouble this truck has had.

Thanks for the great forum and tons of info.

the only reason i ask is because my truck is starting hard. this morning it was 17 below with out wind chill. the first attempt it ran for a second then sputtered and quit. the second time it ran for about 30 seconds, but it was bellowing black smoke out of my stack. third time was a charm.

Yes, they covered them. They seemed hesitant at first because they said the oil looked dirty. The oil had 3800 miles on it. I told them that and they said to bring my last 4 oil change tickets showing miles between and they would cover it. I would advise showing up with a fresh oil change, just to be sure. By what I gathered from one of the shop guys, dirty oil will generally give them a way out of covering it with the warranty. Without warranty they said it was a $2,300 job.
