it doesnt matter if its loaded or empty once the sticker is above 10000 and you use it for compensation.

What state are you in? And what is the truck being used for?

the truck is a cab & chassis so there might be a way to change gvwr so it matches to the vin.

I have the same problem, AL state car tag is good for 8,000# max and any other tag requires DOT numbers. I just swapped it from a farm to a regular tag and hope for the best. There seems to be no legal way to drive a ¾-1 ton truck in my state. And I’m pretty sure your right, its what the truck is rated for not what it actually weighs at the time. Mine doesn’t have a door sticker, it had been repainted before I bought it. I have been pulled over twice by state troopers and warned about driving my truck with a farm tag on it.
