Used Powerstroke

Gentlemen:

I am new to PSD's. I am in the market to buy a used one and would like to know if there is a better year model than others to look for.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Well first off

but as far as some trucks being better than others. i would go with a 99 or 00 7.3 with a 6speed thats the best combination. in 2001 they switch to a weaker rod. so if you want to buld big power i wouldn't look at 7.3 that was made ofter 2000. buts that just my opionion

I would buy any 7.3 that was produced. It's an all around tough reliable motor.

Since I'm in the market as well, I have been wondering this. I would prefer a 6 speed. However, since they are not as common I was wondering if a beefed up auto would be as good or better. Outside of pulling my trans am a few times a year, the truck is mainly gonna be a DD.

i have a 2002 cc sb 7.3 auto and i love it it is my dd and family car. i prefer the 7.3 just one mans opinion. the are lots of guys on here that love there 6.0, if you get a 6.0 try to buy a newer one (05-07) less problems i think.

this is not necessarily true, my 04 hasn't had any trouble with head gaskets or EGR issues. There are good trucks and there are bad ones, I would recommend getting an Oasis report ran before you by anything.
