Need someone knowledgeable with E4OD!

I have an E4OD with 40K miles on a fresh rebuild. when at operating temp, the trans will not shift out of first, until i rev it high then let off, or go all out. when it shifts going all out, i believe it skips 2nd and goes straight into 3rd. I read at Troubleshooting the E4OD and 4R100E Transmission that an intermediate clutch pack could be causing this problem.


on top of that, when in OD when hot, it will not pull out of OD when the button is pressed. it will stay in OD until it revs down to ~900RPM then will violently go into first, over-rev, and go back into 4thOD, back and forth till i have to pull over and start over.

took it to a (bad) oil changer where they just sucked the fluid out with an evacuator, and re-filled it. still problems persist. he did say though that he picked up chunks of black stuff, which could be remnants of the clutch.

Any input on this problem is appreciated.
