New To Diesels
As many of you may have seen my truck, Im more into lift kits and big tires and wheels than performance. I don't know much about diesel trucks, Ive been browsing on here just learning what I can but I wanna know more. Damn, will to learn! haha
I gotta 6.0L. And Im very happy with it, compared to the v-10 I used to have. My dad has a 7.3L and a 6.4L. 3 Powerstrokes at this house. Just have some general questions, Whats the best tranny places out there? Whats the most common/cheapest mods done to the tranny? What kinda maintanece do you guys do on your trannys? Is anyone running different gears? I know head gaskets are a problem with 6.0L, How can I save myself from big money down the road, I want this truck to last? thanks for any advice, tell me what you think i need to know... |

7.3 here.
Subscribing. So no free info here? Not a big advocate of (hey bring it to us, we will treat you right!, I know you just need an (X), but how about a stage 3 and new intake to match the turbo you now need). Sorry to rant, but some of us like doing it our selves, I know I dont have any other diesel friends around here. Any posibilities for some real suggestions? I know of four diesel shops around here. NONE are close. I have offered to donate some fab shop time for some good advice. Everyone is trying to make that BIG sale. WHat to do. These trucks can be more reliable and efficient if we let them. All it needs is a little help by the responsible owner. Me my self I am new, and want to learn. I dont want much, just a good strong reliable pulling rig for the shop. SCT X3 Custom Innovative Diesel Tunning/ Gauge Combo Kit I would suggest some Head Studs so your stock bolts don't stretch and blow the HG(Head Gaskets). You can get a set of ebay for about 385 and you can install them yourself in a WHOLE day or get them installed. Labor for them usually runs 1000$ to 3000$. |

Thanks,
I got about 59000 on it right now. I was thinking about doing a tranny flush cause I read your suppose to do it every 60000. Where would you guys recommend getting gears from? I already have the edge juice platinum. I havent put it on yet. but I dont plan running the highest horsepower all the time, until I get the truck set up a little different. I heard that my stock tranny will be fine unless Im OVER 500 h.p., Is this true? |

If it were me I wouldnt even bother putting the edge on there. I would just sell it and get what you bought it for and get a SCT. |
