Cold start test? Passed...
I forgot to plug Big Duke in last night. This morning, it's about nine degrees out. Well, looks like it's time for the cold start test.
He started. Wasn't happy about it, but he did start. Pat myself on the back for using the 5W40 synthetic oil. My old Chevy with the 6.2 wouldn't start if the temp was below 20. I've had this F350 for a year and a half now. Haven't found anything to complain about. Decent fuel mileage, tight handling, and an interior that puts a Lincoln to shame. Two tons of cut oak in the bed and it says - is that the best you can do? I'm not even breaking a sweat. Give me a real load, would you? |

5w 40 synthetic oil 6.0
I own a 05 6.0 in So Ca. Towing and stop and go traffic. I switched to the Rotella 5w 40 synthetic oil and its been great. Better startup, runs better cold as well as hot. I was scared at first, but figured I change it ever 5 thousand anyway. Seems to have really freed up the engine, easier revs.... Just wondered how many others have made the switch from the old 15W 40 ????
I would never use the thinner oil if it wasn't synthetic though... |
