TTB axle locked up
My front end locked up on me the other day. I cannot even roll in Neutral, I am very happy all of my major breakdowns happen right after I get off the freeway or a roadtrip going 70 but anyway...
What are the different reasons my axle would lock up on me, also, If It needs new gears, is it possible to work on it while the axle stays underneath the truck. I have the drop brackets on my lift welded to the axle and to the crossmember in the frame soo.... taking the axle off the truck is not going to be possible at this time. Do you think it is most likely the gears binding up? |

Unless you drive around in 4wheel drive all the time, the gears should not be the problem as they don't turn unless you are in 4wd of have the hubs locked.
I would suggest wheel bearings are the problem. Good luck on the fix. |

Also, torch that POS out from under there and get a d60. There's no need in putting money into TTB.

I just replaced the front wheel bearings!! grr..
I have busted a wheelbearing while driving. It will still ride on the spindle THe front tires will not Spin forward or BACK anymore ideas? |

is there any slack when you try to spin the tires, or will they not budge at all?

TIRES? as in both front tires? The only thing that could make BOTH front tires lock up at the same time would be a gear/differential problem wich would likely mean you are driving around in 4wheel drive or at least have the hubs locked an the axles are turning the gears. In theory if the above is true then you chould be able to unlock the hubs and the wheels should free spin.(unless there is a bearing problem).

Im gonna jack it up today and see which tire spins or if both do not. Ill get back to you in a few hours.
