What do you do while at work????

Guys, I'm now driving my first diesel (2000 F250 w/ 7.3) and I'm concerned about leaving it in the parking lot all day without the block heater plugged in. With temps in the 20's and lower soon upon us, what do you do? This is my new DD so I need to make sure I'm taking care of her.

I don't have to worry about it,...I live in Louisiana...not too cold here.

and my truck is under surveillance 24/7 and has roaming/armed guards....so I don't have to worry about theft either.

Perks of being in the Military....

i talked to a guy who made up a system using a 3rd battery and a power inverter to keep the block heater going when he wasn't near an outlet. the truck then charged the battery when he ran it.

i dont have a way to plug mine in at work, so i just have to let it warm up for a few till i drive it.. you should be fine either way, you can leave it plugged in all day, or night..

well so far its been 30s and high 20's on occasion and I havent installed my block heater plug yet. All I do is cycle the glow plugs and start it up. It then sits between 10-14 hours unplugged at work. I just idle for a minute or two and then I am off

you should be fine...just cycle your plugs a few times before you crank it...let it warm up before you take off

By cycling the plugs a couple times you'd be surprised how much it helps in cold weather

As little as possible.

Oh, for the truck? Same thing. She fires up fine regardless of temp on the first cycle. Last trip to Omaha, it was 15 degrees out. I forget the "wait to start" crap and just started cranking. Started fine.
