What should I look for?
In the market for a diesel F250 for some medium duty towing needs. I'll be pulling at the minimum 20' enclosed trailer but most likely a 24' trailer hauling at the most a 1500-1800lb car plus tools and stuff. So maybe 7000lbs total depending on trailer empty weight.
Everyone I know that does track days has steered me towards a diesel for the simple fact of getting up the hills easier. They've been there done that with a gasser so don't do that.
I've been told to shy away from the '03 1/2 6.0 engines but most all other 6.0's are good so long as the maintenance has been kept up, as with any other vehicle of course. Oil's been changed, coolant flushed....
I've found on eBay a seemingly nice '05 F250 6.0 diesel quad cab, short bed with 77k miles on it for $21,900. Looks very clean from the pictures...
If I order a pre-purchase inspection should I specify anything in particular to be looked at? Truck is located in TX where it seems a bazillion used trucks are for sale.
First truck purchase for me and it won't be used to tow more than about 10 times a year. It's a shame but I'll need it....
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks..
