T/C lockup

This is the first time Ive owned a diesel and never really heard anything about torque converter lock up etc...before. I dont even really know what that means but from reading it sounds like a lock up is good? I cant tell if mine is locking up or not. I try to watch the rpm gauge or feel for it like everyone says but for the life of me I cant tell anything. Is this a very subtle thing or something that should really stand out to me?

it is very subtle. You can tell if its locked because the RPM will not fall back down to idle when you let your foot off the pedal.
