Exclamation transfur case fluid HELP

I got oil for it with intensions of changing it because i dont know how old it is...I take out the fill plug hold (top plug) and I got about a quart of oil out of it I thought you drail the bottom and fill the tip till it drizzles out so you know its full...how can the guy who owned the truck before me have over filled it by a quart if it would come out befor you put the bolt back in? should i just leave w.e is left in there becasue the fluid looks great sorry this is kinda a rush post casue i want to finish this asap

Maybe he filled it before he put it in? and filled it sideways? idk thats wierd.
