I'm Confused

Ok I am confused. Everyone is pushing for better MPG's especially out of big trucks like ours. But what I am confused on is instead of better fuel mileage the new trucks get worse mpg's. What gives with that, doesn't lower mpg's mean that more fuel is being burned, which in turn means more oil used to make more fuel. I mean it takes more fuel to go the same distance in a new truck then in my old truck.

It sounds like come around 2011 when ford releases the new 6.7 they will be getting back up there in mpg but not like before usd and dpf's and what not. But if we are burning more fuel doesn't that mean more pollutants being released into the atmosphere.

So in turn my truck that does not have the dpf or a cat or any type of emissions is actually better for the enviroment then the new trucks. Because I use less fuel to get to point A to point B.

I would love to see someone do an emissions test on the 99-03 7.3L, 03-07 6.0L and the 08 6.4L and then post the results up from the tests.

Makes about as much sense to me as the tree huggers in Cali. setting SUV's on fire to protest them gas guzzling and causing increased emmissions. No telling how much pollutants they were putting in the air to protest increased emissions.
