clutch or cincros? (dont know how its spelt)

ok so i have a 1997 f250 with a 5speed with a single mass clutch. well when i shift to third it always grinds. except when im in lower rpm which sucks cause 2nd is my chevy smoking gear and when i shift i have to wait for the rpms to go down to shift. and when i shift i have to put the clutch to the floor and it its out even a tint bit it grinds, is it the clutch that needs adjusting of do i need my tranny gone through?

Sounds like your clutch. It doesnt pop out of gear does it? if so, then that would mean syncros.

its the synchronizer packs in third i just rebuilt a transmission at work that did the same low rpm shift was normal high rpm it ground also did it on the downshift. tell you the truth not much more money like 3-500 more for a fully remaned tranny from jasper and comes with a waranty may want to check it out. you cant adjust the clutch because its a hydraulic clutch also check the level of fluid in the slave cylinder sounds more like synchronizers than clutc plus at a low lug and your foot to the floor the clutch would slip and you would notice that for sure

you have the same problem as me,but mines a bit worse.mine grinds in every gear,i have to shift so slow up threw the gears or it will grind,actually 5th doesnt grind at all.and downshifting is a nightmare,i have to double clutch like a sob,or like you said wait till rpms go way down,but i hate luggin around corners in third,it sucks.ive gone through my whole clutch system and its all fine.so ive been drivin it like this for a year and it hasnt gotton worse,but your syncros are prolly goin south. better learn how to double clutch.goodluck
