Can anyone near New Port Richey, FL help me?
The saga continues:
I've been considering a 2000 F250 CC, SB, 4x4 lariat with 226k. It's lifted, chipped, gauges, etc. Car lot told me that the rear main seal was leaking. After reading here I doubted it and had it taken to the local Ford dealership, turns out it's not the rear mail but some orings, probaly HPOP. (I'm located eight hours from the vehicle). Well the dealer said the torque converter is going out (overheating) because of some codes on the computer (I'll try to get the specific codes tomorrow). Dealer said no problem, for $2200 he'd be happy to fix it. Uhh $2200? What? Anyways, car lot says that the red aftermarket button on the dash will lockout the torque converter. That's why the codes are comming up.
I can't really trust either one of them. I think the price is a good deal at 8500, considering all of the extras. SO to get to the point. Does anyone know anyone near New port richey, FL that would be willing to check out the truck, maybe scan it and help me out? I'd be willing to pay them something for their time but I just dropped $100 at the dealership and it wasn't all that helpful....
Really getting frustrated at this point. don't want to let this one go but I just can't justify the 8 hour drive down unless I know what I'm looking at.
PS - Scuffy has been giving me advise on this situtation as well...Thanks Scuffy!
