Need Experienced advise on this one...

I'm looking at a 2000 CC, PSD, w/ 226k miles, 4x4 lariat. Lift, running 38s. The lot where the truck is doesn't know much about it. There are gauges in the truck, for EGT and boost. Other than that, nothing else is known about it. There are some buttons on the dash, no one knows what they are for. I'm guessing the chip? No one knows who makes the chip/lift/etc. Maint. records are also unknown. On the upside the truck is down to around 8k-ish. Down side is the truck is 8 hours from me.

I'd be a first time psd owner, enjoy working on vehicles, have only had gas vehicles before. Any advise / tips on checking out the truck?

Nice looking truck, personally I wouldn't worry about what brand lift and stuff for that price, as long as it drives good and tranny shifts good. There is a list on here somewhere as for what to look for when buying used.

Thanks, I checked out that list and also watched the youtube videos (powerstrokehelp) last night. Seems like a good deal...just wanted others advise...
