Looking to get a Diesel. What you think?

Im looking at a 2003 Ford F-250 right now. It has 73,000 miles on it. Its auto, 4x4 with the XLT package. They are asking $16000 for it and it is a really clean truck. Everything on it looks to be in good condition and it drives smooth. Is this a good price? Is this a good truck? I tow a 16ft trailer every weekend to the races and my little 4.7l dodge 1500 is killing me with getting only 9mpg so im hoping this will make towing easier and get better mpg.

is it a 7.3 or 6.0? Either way its a powerstroke and will be a good truck I'd talk them down to $15,000 though I bet they will go for it with fuel prices and all

Its a 6.0L. Is that a good or bad thing? I know its the first year of the 6.0 so they probably have there problems but i need a reliable truck since i tow alot and its usaully 600+ miles and i plan on taking it from NY to CA to go Glamis this fall.

03 6.0 isn't the greatest. Check the build date. Built after may 03 is a good sign. Oasis it.

If you want reliablity no questions asked get a 7.3 which is early 03 and prior. Early 03 7.3s come with the 5 speed torque shift where 02 and prior are 4 speeds. If 6.0 is in your books 05+ would be a good idea for reliability.

With 73k on the clock chances are if the truck was going to have the typical early 6.0 problems should have already happened and been fixed by the previous owner. The early 6.0's had a lot of problems with injectors.

I've actually heard of and seen more problems with the 04's than the 03's but Get an Oasis Report and it will tell you any probs it has had and go from there.

$16k sounds a bit pricey in todays market.
