Is it worth buying? 280,000 miles

I haven't looked at this truck yet, going tomorrow. It is a '02 F-350, Lariet, x-cab, SB, 4X4, 6spd. It has 280,000 miles on it. I was told after I drive it I won't even look at the odometer. It is coming from a used car dealership. It is the owners personal truck. He asking less than 10K. Should I stay away?

Thats almost 47k a year. I would get under it and check her out. You could be looking at replacing a lot of parts at that mileage. AND, it should be well under 10k in this market.

unless it was coming from someone that i've known for awhile, i wouldn't touch a truck with that many miles on it.

Now thats a new one from a sales guy!!!

To that I gotta say "no point looking at the odometer ...if the odometer aint moving "

It may be a great deal...but should you ever try to resell it...it will be a hard sell...unless you come up with something really creative...like "i replaced the engine and trans,all the steering and suspension components,the fuel pump,the brake cyllinders,the master cyllinder,...." and on and on!

I wouldn't paid anymore that 7k for the truck with that kinda miles and that's being nice. Honestly. But it is a 7.3 so it could be in good shape still but i agree with others. Might need front end work soon or now and brakes/rotors, U-joints, All oils, Trans and rear ends flushed, and whatever else. So you have to look out for your pocket. Just my 02

A second comment is that a drive past a dealer frequently that has loads of used and new powerstrokes on the lot. There is some serious markdowns
on many of them. Scout around a little.
