F350 powerstroke

hello,

i am new here and wondering about the '08 powerstroke diesels. i drive a dodge cummins and will be in the market in the near future. like the cummins but ford has some great deals now. what is the current motor in the powerstroke, 7.3? 6.4? and how reliable is it? any injector issues? i would be using the truck with my 3k pound camper.

thanks for any insight you can give me.

welcome man, i personally dont have the 08 but there are quite a few on this site and im sure they will be here soon. the 08 have the 6.4L. it is the first year of production and like anyother engine it has its drawbacks and its positives. (for example a postitve is Twin Turbos, better accel off the line when towing...etc, one drawback is the twin turbo. i have heard of the smaller turbo toasting itsself after hard running, but i believe ford has since fixed it.) a 3k camper should be NO problem for the truck but i will let others chime in. what year is your dodge?

'05 5.9 with 70k on the clock.

is this the first year for the 6.4 and are there many reported problems?

a 3k lb. camper is not a lot of weight for a 1 ton truck. would not hauling heavy hurt the 6.4 in the long run? seems to me i have read that some of these powerstrokes are used with snow plows. not a heavy load for sure.

i guess i am wondering if not towing or hauling heavy could hurt the injectors over time.

thanks,
david

i wouldnt think so. for cryin out loud its a TRUCK it better last! all my info is through the grapevine from what i here on here and what i catch at the dealer. i personally would wait for the 09 cause it will have alot of bugs out of it. when you think about it thats not too far off.
