Fuel tank woes

Hi everybody, I've got a fuel tank issue that I need help figuring out if someone would be so kind. Every time I use the front fuel tank on my 93 F-250 I can only get a hundred miles or so out of it before the truck starts choking and having fuel filter-like issues. As soon as I switch to the rear tank everything smoothes out and runs fine. Not sure if there is a float issue or what...last time I tried to fill up the front tank I had a real hard time getting fuel into it.

Sorry for the lame ignorance here guys, I'm a retired music teacher with virtually no mechanical experience but very willing to learn. Appreciate any help I can get.

Have you checked the vent hose/line? Maybe it is kinked or pinched? What is the level in the tank? 100 miles should be around the 3/4 full area. When you filled it how many gallons did it take? Not sure with the transfer switch but, maybe its restricted or partially closed? Hopefully someone can add more info.
