cost of a rebuild

I'm planning for my next truck in the near future and I'm getting what I want this time. NO settling for a frontier because it was a good deal and had more seats. (although I can't complain about the truck its self)

I'm getting a diesel and most likely a 7.3 or a 6.0. I'm considering all the way from a 94 to 2007. I'm just wondering how many miles is to many for a truck thats had the average persons idea of maintenance? IE not so good but not really abused. It will be a personal toy and project as well as getting some light work.

I know the problems with the 6.0 and I'll consider the cost to fix them when I buy.

Also, what is the average cost of a rebuild for those engines and the autos that come with them? I'm good with my hands but I'm not sure if rebuilding a diesel is something I want to do. Last question is if the 6.0 goes from one of its flaws how much more is it to fix, or is it worth rebuilding.

I guess I should mention I'm not planning any power mods until I'm ready to rebuild the trans and then only light mods. I'm not a power monger for anything but my bike.
